“I just can’t”

Whoops, almost a month I missed out there. You know, it’s alright though. I started posting to my blog again with an aim for consistency to benefit my creative process and my mental health and my hiatus of a month was quite literally the result of a mental health boost from a new member of the family.

Angela and I adopted a smart, sweet, beautiful farm-pup we’ve named Becky. And yes, fur-kids count, we love our little family even as they go through some growing pains of the cats getting used to their new ‘strange cat’ our friends rightly called Becky. Anyways. We’ve had our hands full in what will ultimately is a rewarding endeavour.

I got a taste too of the wonderful side effects of dog on the appropriate ‘Family Day’ holiday here in BC. Becky and I faced the beginning of a wind warning and hiked around Brohm Lake, Becky’s first real hike and my first time doing the whole loop in many years. I’m really excited when she’s able to handle a little longer/more climbing route and we can hike up to the Gondola and ride down.

Anyways, finding the balance between dog life and work life has been with it’s challenges. I get some real FOMO while I’m work during the week in the city, while Angela handles full time puppy care like an absolute Boss™. You see film work is making me a bit of a weekend parent, which isn’t without guilt, but I’m making an effort to relieve as much puppy care as I can in my short windows at home. But the hikes, amazing energy and the thoughts of road trips with our pupper in tow really make me excited for us.
